The Eaton Cutler-Hammer W200MLCNC is a non-reversing motor starter in the Eaton Cutler-Hammer Advantage series. Starters in this series have a prolonged service life and they are small in size, making them ideal for being installed in environments where space needs to be saved at all costs. The W200MLCNC, like other Advantage motor starters, protects the motor against overcurrents. Additionally, Advantage motor starters keep the coil power constant even when the control circuit control conditions keep changing. This feature helps to prevent coil burnout and the welding and contact chatter which emanates from low voltage with an unstable control signal. The W200MLCNC has a current rated at 27 Amps. For the motor starter to operate optimally, its input voltage should be supplied from a 3-phase source.
The W200MLCNC is composed of a power circuit and a control circuit. The power circuit has the electricity that travels through the starter’s contacts to the overload relay and that is fed to the motor. Note that the control circuit may or may not have the same voltage as the power circuit. However, when the voltage on both the control circuit and the power circuit is the same, this is known as common control, and when the voltages are different, it is known as separate control. Common control occurs when the control circuit and the power circuit are powered from the same power source. Where separate control is required, a control power transformer can be used. The W200MLCNC operates with a minimum voltage of 200 Volts AC and a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC.
