The EGE2020FFG is a complete circuit breaker from Cutler-Hammer, a division of Eaton Corporation. The circuit breaker has an E-Frame type and is a series G breaker. The EGE2020FFG has two groups of contacts, main and auxiliary. The main contacts carry the load current and are made from silver or any soft alloy to provide reduced resistance to the current flow. The resistance is further decreased by the large size of the contacts. The auxiliary contacts in the EGE2020FFG circuit breaker are responsible for electrical functions. Note that auxiliary and main contacts operate simultaneously. However, the auxiliary contacts are mechanical. The Cutler-Hammer EGE2020FFG has arc extinguishing capabilities which add to the safe operation of the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker has 2 poles and a current rating of 20 Amperes. For the trip unit, the EGE2020FFG employs a fixed thermal fixed magnetic mechanism to protect a circuit from overloads and other voltage and current malfunctioning.
The circuit breaker contains standard line and load terminals and accommodates metric mounting hardware. The EGE2020FFG, being a series G, is designed to save on space and have a global usage. The interrupting capacity for the EGE2020FFG circuit breaker is 18 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at 600Y/347 Volts AC, 25 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at both 480 and 415 Volts AC, and 35 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at 240 Volts AC. The EGE2020FFG has an EG-frame size and a making capacity of 20 Amperes, as well as a thermal current of 6 Amperes. Rated operating voltage for the circuit breaker is capped at between 230 and 600 Volts AC.
