The MT3800T is a circuit breaker and trip unit manufactured by Cutler-Hammer and it is from the Series C family of circuit breakers. It has an M frame type and it is a thermal magnetic trip unit. It has 3 poles and the MT3800T has a trip current rating of 800 Amps. The recommended ambient operating temperature of the device is 40 degrees Celsius and users can also order the device after it has been calibrated to be compatible with lower temperatures, for which special lubrication and mechanisms are used to make the device operate at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius. It is a thermal magnetic unit which means that when the current that passes through the core increases, it energizes the core to create a magnetic field.
When the current goes beyond the current threshold, it causes enough of a magnetic field to pull the lever to cause the switch to trip. During short circuits where a high current passes through the MT3800, it helps in protecting the other connected devices from damage due to the short circuit. Before users turn on the power to the system after connecting the unit to other devices, they should make sure that they made the connections correctly and that the wires are secured in place. The contacts should not have any loose wires, in order to prevent any sparks and the risk of fire, and the switch should be in the off position. Users can contact their local distributor for any assistance regarding the installation process or order information. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure the safety of the equipment and safety for the people operating the device.
