The Eaton HMDL3800WK is a fixed thermal fixed magnetic molded case switch. When installed in an electrical circuit using an AC power supply, the HMDL3800WK can only accommodate a frequency ranging from 50 to 60 Hertz. The molded case switch has a current rating of 800 Amps at an ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. The HMDL3800WK has no terminals. For the frame, the switch has an MDL-frame type and an M Frame size. With its 3 poles, the switch can be used with 3-phase powered systems/circuits. The HMDL3800WK houses its internal components in a molded case which is moisture resistant. However, the internal components are not resistant to moisture and special protection should be made use of if the switch is to be used in moisture or fungus-prone industrial settings. The need to protect the internal components against adverse environmental conditions should be expressed during the purchase if the HMDL3800WK is factory assembled so that extra protective features can be added.
The switch has 10 kiloamps interrupt capacity at an AC voltage of 240 Volts. However, at an AC voltage of 480 Volts, the switch has a 65 kiloamps interrupt capacity, 35 kiloamps interrupt capacity at 600 Volts, and 25 kiloamps interrupt capacity at 250 Volts DC. The interrupt ratings are defined by the Underwriters Laboratory under the UL 489 standards. The HMDL3800WK high magnetic molded case switch has a maximum rated operating voltage of 600 Volts AC or of 250 Volts DC. The HMDL3800WK belongs to the Eaton Series C category of molded case switches and circuit breakers.
