The Cutler-Hammer HMDL3500 is a high-interrupting circuit breaker that is also a thermal-magnetic breaker that is used to detect abnormal currents. This breaker combines the current detection techniques of an electromagnet and a bimetal strip that responds to temperature changes. This breaker is mainly used in distribution boards, and it has been designed by Cutler-Hammer and included in its C Series of molded case circuit breakers. The Cutler-Hammer HMDL3500 high-interrupting circuit breaker provides an amperage rating of 500 Amps and an operating voltage of up to 600 Volts AC. It also features 3 poles and it has been included in the M frame product line of Series C of the Cutler-Hammer circuit breakers.
Prior to the installation of the Cutler-Hammer HMDL3500 high-interrupting circuit breaker, it is recommended to mount the breaker in a vertical plane to allow maximum airflow. This breaker has been calibrated for an ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, and if the operating temperature is higher than this, the breaker should be calibrated again or derated. If the breaker is going to be installed in an enclosure, users need to make sure that it provides a good means of ventilation. The performance of the Cutler-Hammer HMDL3500 high-interrupting circuit breaker is 65 symmetrical Amps at a voltage of 480 Volts AC. The Cutler-Hammer HMDL3500 high-interrupting circuit breaker should be used in system voltages within their ratings and in order to ensure a correct application and provide a good protection level, the interrupting rating of the breaker must be equal or it must overpass the amount of fault currents delivered in that exact point of the system.
