The LT-type LT2600T circuit breaker from Eaton is a trip unit for L-frame circuit breakers. It has 2 poles, it is rated for 600 Amps of current, and it is based on a non-interchangeable thermal-magnetic tripping system. The magnetic trip current range for the LT2600T runs from 5000 Amps to 6000 Amps. The magnetic trip on every pole can be adjusted by changing the position of the adjustment button. Currents exceeding the magnetic trip setting will cause instant tripping. Tripping due to thermal events occurs within 2 hours of a 135% overload and it occurs earlier for higher overloads. The LT2600T is UL certified. During its installation in a Series C breaker with an L-frame, the LT2600T should be powered off.
Local codes and regulations and all the relevant industry safety procedures should be followed during installation of the circuit breaker. The LT2600T is factory calibrated and then sealed to reduce the risk of calibration tampering. Calibration is conducted at 50 to 60 Hertz frequency and at 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The specifications of the LT2600T should be compared to the system requirements and the equipment ratings before it is installed inside a circuit breaker. During installation inside of a breaker, the torque on the screws should be kept within the prescribed limits. Excessive torque will cause shearing for the screws but torque levels that are less than required will lead to overheating and this will cause random breaker tripping. Accessories for the LT2600T include an auxiliary switch, shunt trip, and a low-power shunt trip. The accessories are usually installed prior to the circuit breaker’s mounting and installation.
