The 2-pole Eaton HLD2500 is a Series C circuit breaker with a built-in thermal–magnetic trip module. The trip module is non-interchangeable. The HLD2500 is an HLD type breaker with an L Frame. The HLD circuit breakers are rated for 600 Volts AC and support either thermal-magnetic or electronic trip units. The current specifications for the HLD2500 are 500 Amps and its voltage specifications are 250 Volts DC and 600 Volts AC. The interrupt capacity ratings for the breaker are 100 kAIC at 240 Volts AC and 65 kAIC at 480 Volts AC. The HLD2500 is specified for 50 and 60 Hertz frequencies. The aluminum line and load terminals are part of the HLD2500. Terminal overheating which leads to breaker damage and to spurious tripping can occur when aluminum wires are used.
The Eaton Corporation recommends using a joint solution when aluminum conductors or wires are used with the circuit breaker because this will prevent the terminal from overheating. A high-voltage and high-current device such as the HLD2500 requires that the personnel involved in installing it or servicing it take certain precautions to ensure that they are safe from injury. The manufacturer recommendations regarding the HLD2500 include ensuring that the breaker is in the off state while it is being installed, serviced, or inspected, ensuring that the working area is clear of high voltages and that all other associated equipment is powered off. The HLD2500 comes in an L Frame. The breaker weighs 19 pounds. The dimensions of the circuit breaker enclosure are 13.1 x 10.2 x 10.2 inches.
