The Eaton Cutler-Hammer KT2100T Thermal-Magnetic Trip Unit is an 80% rated adjustable thermal and magnetic trip unit, in the Series C line of circuit breakers that are used as general purpose circuit protection for overload and short-circuit situations. The KT2100T is a trip unit assembly with a 2-pole wiring design suitable for 1-phase applications, and like every K Frame device, it is HACR rated and built for reverse feed use. The KT2100T is a 100 Amps rated thermal-magnetic trip unit, with 35 KAIC of maximum fault limit, and is designed for 600 Volts AC systems. This trip unit consists of magnetic and thermal trip elements (electromagnet and bimetal), which provides instantaneous trip action, and it can be adjusted in the field to accommodates higher ratings based on application needs.
The KT2100T provides thermal trip action via a load heated bimetal strip which deflects upon a prolonged overload, thereby providing a fast-acting thermal trip action. The magnetic trip action is instantaneous, and it is provided by using electromagnets arranged in series with the line load, which instantaneously trips when the circuit current exceeds the users’ set value. It is designed for use within an ambient limit of 40 degrees Celsius, and it can be recalibrated in the field for higher ambient temperatures. The KT2100T is designed to operate within a 0 to 95% non-corrosive and non-condensing relative humidity range, and it can function without de-rating below an installation height of 6000 feet. The KT2100T has UL, CSA, and IEC certifications, and it has total mounting dimensions of 5.4 x 4.3 x 7.0 inches.
