The Eaton Cutler-Hammer KES3400LS C Series Electronic RMS Trip Breaker Unit is a microprocessor-based trip unit, which provides i2t overload protection in applications with high levels of system coordination requirements. This digital RMS trip unit is designed with solid-state circuitry and a high-performance built-in current transformer which provides both digital overload and digital short-circuit trip action, and like most electronic trip units in the K-Frame series, it features programmable long/short-time pickup and long/short-time delays. The KES3400LS is an RMS sensing trip unit with a maximum trip rating of 400 Amps which is designed for use with the CKDB, KDB, HKDB, KD, CHKDB, HKD, CHKD, and the CKD devices, all with 400 Amps of maximum current rating. This 3-pole trip unit is designed with a fixed rated plug with adjustable plug rating, and it offers a programmable interrupting rating of 35, 65, and 100 KAIC at 480 Volts AC.
The KES3400LS also offers an excessive temperature trip, and it is designed with a long delay thermal memory which is used to shorten the long delay. It has a 0.5 to 1.0 (inches) long delay pickup plug rating, with 12 seconds of maximum long-delay protection time, and it also has 200 to 800% short delay pick plug rating with 100 milliseconds of short delay maximum protection time. The KES3400LS does not come with an instantaneous pickup option, but it is capable of providing instantaneous overdrive, and it has an LED indicator light which shows the system status. This trip is suitable for functional field testing using the STK2 field test kit, and it has a permissible ambient temperature range of –20 to 55 degrees Celsius at 5 to 95% non-condensing relative humidity. The KES3400LS weighs approximately 1.4 kilograms, with a total volume of 121.9 x 124.5 x 195.6 millimeters, and it is UL and CSA approved.
