The KDC3400F is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker manufactured by Cutler-Hammer. This circuit breaker belongs to the K-frame from the Series C of circuit breakers. This series provides high-interrupting circuit breakers that can be applied to a wide range of applications, including grounding systems. Circuit breakers protect motors, starters and any other electrical circuit from damages caused by excess current from an overload condition. Circuit breakers are an essential safety component in any industrial process. The Cutler-Hammer KDC3400F thermal-magnetic circuit breaker has 3 poles and it operates with a frame current rating of 400 Amps. This circuit breaker includes a frame and it has a 600 Volts AC ultra-high interrupting capacity rating. The maximum continuous current rating at a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius is 250 Amps.
The calibration of this circuit breaker is performed at a standard temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. Users can request a higher temperature calibration when ordering the circuit breaker. The Cutler-Hammer KDC3400F thermal-magnetic circuit breaker has a ground fault pickup of 50 to 400 Amps and it is 100% rated. It features a high load alarm and an interchangeable trip unit. All the specifications mentioned above are based on 3-phase applications in the open air in a maximum temperature range of 40 degrees Celsius, and a cable length of 4 feet (1.2 meters). If these conditions are not met, the circuit breaker requires an additional derating. If the circuit breaker is used within an enclosure, it will require a minimum derating of 20%.
