The KD2300 is a K-frame circuit breaker that is designed and manufactured by Cutler-Hammer, a division of the Eaton Corporation. At 40 degrees Celsius, the KD2300 as a 300 Amps continuous current rating. The tripping unit used by the circuit breaker uses a thermal-magnetic tripping mechanism. The mechanism uses a tripping arm that is located on the face panel of the breaker. The tripping arm is used to ease the troubleshooting procedures by showing the current status of the KD2300 circuit breaker. The breaker only has 3 statuses, which are on, tripped, and off. The circuit breaker assumes the tripped status when the circuit breaker detects a short circuit.
Additionally, the KD2300 molded case circuit breaker is turned on when it is actively protecting the circuit against any malfunctioning. Switching it off locks out parts of the circuit and prevents them from being powered. The KD2300 has a fourth status position, reset, which is located beyond the off position and it is used to put the KD2300 circuit breaker back into active circuit protection. The KD2300 has 2 poles and a maximum voltage rating of 600 Volts AC in an alternating current environment and the voltage rating is 250 Volts DC in a direct current environment. With a K-frame type, the KD2300 is supplied with its line and load terminals separately to ease field installation. Note that a factory-assembled KD2300 molded case circuit breaker is also included, but it has to be specified when ordering. When installing the circuit breaker, a copper or aluminum wire type is used. The KD2300 terminals are also made of either copper or aluminum.
