The KD2250 is a molded case circuit breaker from Eaton. The breaker is designed to accommodate a maximum voltage of 600 Volts AC or of 250 Volts DC when it is used to protect circuits powered by an alternating current or a direct current, respectively. The KD2250 is part of the wide-ranging Series C group of circuit breakers from Eaton/Westinghouse. With its 2 poles, the circuit breaker is conditioned for use in systems that use a single-phase power source. The KD2250 also belongs to the Cutler-Hammer Type KD subgroup of circuit breakers. The Eaton/Westinghouse KD2250 has a standard interrupt capacity and it is factory assembled, although its K frame allows for the purchase of individual parts.
If the KD2250 is ordered in its individual parts, this allows for the field installation of the terminals, the trip unit, and the frame. However, if the KD2250 circuit breaker is field assembled, it loses its ability to be used for reverse feed use. The circuit breaker has a maximum continuous amperage rating of 250 Amps at a maximum ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. The KD2250, as with other K-frame circuit breakers from Eaton, has its terminals made from copper or aluminum. In special cases, the preferred material for the terminals should be specified when purchasing it. The Eaton KD2250 has line and load terminals and a 35 kAIC at a voltage of 480 Volts AC. For the trip unit, the KD2250 employs a fixed thermal and a fixed magnetic trip mechanism with long-time and instantaneous functions.
