The HKD3400F is K-frame sized Frame made for HKD 3-pole breakers and that is 400 Amps rated. This part is manufactured by Cutler-Hammer, a division of the Eaton Corporation. This is the housing for a “C” Series MCCB, which users can order as an individual component along with other MCCB basic elements like the trip unit, rating plug, and terminals. This frame is part of the molded case circuit breaker that is the HKD3400 with a high interrupting capacity. That MCCB is 600 Volts AC rated and its reacting limit is 65 kAIC at 480 Volts AC.
The HKD3400F frame can also be applied to MCCBs with 125 Amps and 250 Amps of maximum continuous current ratings at 40 degrees Celsius. On the front of this frame, there is a slot for a handle and for the unit’s trip adjusting button. Users can set the current rating here for the MCCB to open the contacts in the case of a trip fault situation. When the device goes to trip position, sometimes the users cannot reactivate it until the thermal trip-unit cools down. They should not close the MCCB again until they are sure that the fault that caused the trip is repaired. The Eaton HKD3400F supports K-Frame sized MCCBs. It is a compact sized frame with dimensions of 5.5 inches x 10.1 inches x 4.1 inches (149.7 millimeters x 257.3 millimeters x 104.1 millimeters). The frame is designed to provide mechanical and thermal protection to the device’s components. It is advised to maintain a surrounding air temperature below 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) for this frame and the MCCB to operate properly.
