The Eaton Cutler-Hammer JT3090T is a JT Type thermal-magnetic trip unit. It is the main part of the molded case circuit breaker. This trip unit can be installed onto JD, HJDDC, HJD, and JDC molded case circuit breaker frame types. All of these frame types belong to the Eaton Series C line of circuit breakers. The JT3090T has thermal-magnetic trip functions that are applicable to electrical circuits with a nominal current of 90 Amps. The users should know that the NEC requirements prescribe that overcurrent protective devices, such as the JT3090T, may be burdened to a maximum load of 80% of its nominal current rating. The Eaton JT3090T is an interchangeable trip unit equipped with an LI trip function. On the device, on the front, users can set the long-time and the instantaneous trip values over 2 red knobs.
There is also the push-to-trip button that is responsible for testing the unit’s emergency functions that can be performed when needed. The input terminals of the module can take up to 600 Volts AC voltage. There are 3 input terminals on the device, so this device is well suited for use with 3-phase systems and for motor overcurrent protection. The Cutler-Hammer JT3090T has dimensions of 4.13 inches x 10 inches x 4.06 inches (104.9 millimeters x 254.0 millimeters x 103.1 millimeters). The magnetic trip and thermal trip are adjusted by rotating the red adjustment knobs with a screwdriver. This module belongs to the medium class when it comes to the preciseness of setting, and an RMS alternating current setting value can deviate from the real tripping value by +/-10%.
