The JT3070T is a molded case circuit breaker from Eaton. The Eaton circuit breakers are used for various applications in industries which include machine tools, control panels, and motor control applications, and they are also used in panelboards, feeder pillars, switchgears, individual enclosures, and other applications where users need to protect the equipment from overloading and overcurrent conditions. Users can find the typical installation diagram in the manual provided by the manufacturer. The JT3070T is from the Series C line of Eaton circuit breakers which are manufactured by Eaton. The circuit breaker has a J frame and it is a thermal magnetic trip unit. The thermal magnetic trip units have a bimetal strip on the input side which heats up when an overcurrent flows through the unit and causes the unit to trip.
On the load side, when there is an overload condition, the current passing through the unit increases and this causes the electromagnet on the load side to generate a strong magnetic field due to the high load current. This high magnetic field attracts the armature, causing the circuit to open, all of this happens in a fraction of seconds and these trip units are required when the response time required is less. The JT3070T has 3 poles and the maximum rated current is 70 Amps. The JT3070T has various agency certifications as per different country’s specific requirements. Users must make sure the connections on the terminals are tight and that the wire does not come out. This is to prevent any electric shock hazard.
