The JT2250T is a Series C Type JT circuit breaker. It is manufactured by Cutler-Hammer to protect mechanical systems from overloading and short circuits for devices such as motors and motor starters. They are thermal magnetic trip circuit breakers which are to be operated at a temperature range of 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. The thermal magnetic trip unit consists of 2 switching mechanisms, one of which is the bimetal switch and the other of which is an electromagnet. When a high current passes through the trip unit, it passes through the bimetal strip, and this high current heats up the strip and rotates the trip bar to open the circuit. Similarly, the electromagnet of the circuit breaker is energized when a high current passes through and it generates a strong magnetic field to attract the armature and open the circuit. These circuit breakers are normally used where the applications are required to limit the short circuit current because of their high trip speed.
The JT2250T is a thermal magnetic unit with 2 poles. The maximum current rating of the JT2250T is 250 Amps. The users must install the circuit breaker and make the connections on the load and line terminals as specified by the manufacturer’s instructions. The connections must not be loose but must be held tight in place. The users must make sure to use the appropriate gauge of the wire for making the connection. The circuit breaker has 3 switch positions which are the on, off and trip positions. The JT2250T circuit breaker is molded in a glass polyester enclosure to prevent any growth of fungus and molds inside the device.
