The JT2150T is a 2-pole adjustable thermal-magnetic trip unit manufactured by Eaton. It is part of Type JT trip units of the Series C family and its magnetic trip range is 750 to 1500 Amps with 150 Amps continuous amperage rating and a non-interchangeable trip type. The JT2150T thermal-magnetic trip unit is suitable for use with standard and high frames, and each of its poles has its own thermal-magnetic element. It performs efficiently under different load conditions and it automatically provides an instantaneous trip for the circuit breaker when its specified load or current rating is exceeded or when a short circuit occurs.
The trip range and thermal-magnetic elements on the front panel of the JT2150T thermal-magnetic trip unit can be adjusted with a screwdriver to anywhere between 10% of the trip unit’s high setting and 20% of its low setting. Its thermal element functions by monitoring for the heat produced by overloads and by tripping the breaker within 2 hours any time the overload conditions exceed its load capacity by up to 135%. The JT2150T thermal-magnetic trip unit can be installed on the same circuit breaker with other internal accessories, including alarm switches, an undervoltage release mechanism (auto and manual reset), and a shunt trip. The power must be disconnected from the circuit breaker before attempting to install the trip unit or any other internal accessories. To determine if the JT2150T trip unit is suitable for use with the circuit breaker, simply compare its rating with the details available on the nameplate of the breaker. Note that excessive torquing may shear the screws and result in excessive heating and problematic tripping.
