The JT2070T is a 2-pole Type JT thermal-magnetic trip unit for Series C J Frame molded case circuit breakers manufactured by Eaton. Its maximum amperage rating is 70 Amps and it is suitable for use with standard, high, and ultra-high interrupting frames. It provides instantaneous trip functions and its trip current time is the same for AC and DC applications. The JT2070T thermal-magnetic trip unit is designed for use with types JD, HJD, and JDC thermal-magnetic circuit breakers with interchangeable trip units, which are part of the Series C J Frame family of Eaton circuit breakers. Extended aluminum conductors are available for each pole of the JT2070T thermal-magnetic trip unit and it features a push-to-trip button for manually tripping the breaker. Each pole of this trip unit features adjustable thermal-magnetic elements and its amperage rating is adjustable. All of these can be adjusted to the desired configuration with a small screwdriver.
When installed on a circuit breaker, the JT2070T thermal-magnetic trip unit trips the breaker within 2 hours for any overload event reaching 135% of its load capacity. It trips much faster when higher loads are present and the entire unit is factory calibrated at 40 degrees Celsius. The JT2070T thermal-magnetic trip unit can be installed alongside other internal and external accessories of the J Frame circuit breakers, including auxiliary switches and undervoltage release mechanisms but all such accessories must be installed before applying any power to the breaker. It is housed in a glass polyester case, which provides the required insulation and repels moisture.
