The JDC2250 is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker that belongs to the Series C of circuit breakers and it is currently distributed by Eaton Corporation (formerly Cutler-Hammer)
The Eaton Cutler-Hammer JDC2250 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker provides ultra-high interrupting capacity current limiting with 100 symmetrical Amps at a specific voltage of 480 Volts AC and a maximum continuous amperage of 250 Amps at a specific temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. It operates with a voltage of up to 600 Volts AC. The Cutler-Hammer JDC2250 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker features 2 poles, and these are interconnected between them and they can detect faults individually. Once a fault is detected, both of them will open automatically and cause a trip action and once this fault has been cleared and corrected, the circuit breaker can be put back into operation.
The JDC2250’s calibration temperature is 40 degrees Celsius, and if the required temperature is higher than that, a new calibration process might be required. On the other hand, if the circuit breaker is intended to be used within an enclosure, it should be derated by at least 20%, due to the slow heat dissipation this brings. The Cutler-Hammer thermal-magnetic circuit breaker is a great option for demanding applications that require high interrupting capacities, and the mechanism used by this breaker is considered 1 of the standard mechanisms in the industry. It consists of detection by temperature and by the use of an electromagnet. There is a wide range of accessories for the Cutler-Hammer thermal-magnetic circuit breaker that can improve its performance, such as alarms, terminal shields, and interface barriers.
