The JDB3090 is a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker from Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer. The JDB3090 has 3 poles and an operating current of 90 Amps. The circuit breaker contains line and load terminals. The JDB3090 only has the UL 489 interrupt capacity ratings which stand at 35 Kilo Amps, 65 Kilo Amps, and 18 Kilo Amps of Interrupt Capacity at voltages of 480, 240, and 600 Volts AC, respectively. Additionally, the JDB3090 has an interrupt rating of 10 Kilo Amps of Interrupt Capacity at a voltage of 250 Volts DC. While under DC voltage, the JDB3090 has a minimum time constant of 3 milliseconds at 10 Kilo Amps and at 22 Kilo Amps, the JDB3090 has a time constant of 8 milliseconds.
The Westinghouse JDB3090 has a Type J frame size and it belongs to Series C of the Westinghouse molded case circuit breakers. The breaker is panel mountable and it is factory sealed, prohibiting any field installation of its trip unit and other internal components. The JDB3090, as with other molded case circuit breakers with a J-Frame, is HACR-rated. Since this type of circuit breakers can be purchased either in its constituent parts (the terminals, trip unit, and frame) or as a complete breaker, those that are factory assembled are ideal for reverse feed use. The Eaton JDB3090, when ordered as a complete breaker sealed at the factory, it should undergo regular checks after installation to avoid using a clogged or a malfunctioning circuit breaker. A clogged circuit breaker is similar to not having a breaker since it may not trip during a fault in the circuit, causing damage.
