The HJD4250 is a four-pole molded case circuit breaker from Eaton. The breaker has a J-frame type making it available as either in its individual components or as a factory-assembled module. When ordering in its individual components, the HJD4250 allows for field installation of internal components. Note that user assembled circuit breakers are not suitable for reverse feed use. The HJD4250 has its voltage rated at 600 Volts AC and its current rated at 250 Amperes within an ambient temperature of 40 degrees Celsius. The Eaton HJD4250 belongs to the series C family of circuit breakers with a molded case.
The circuit breaker employs a trip unit that uses an adjustable thermal and an adjustable magnetic mechanism. This type of mechanism allows the user to set the level of sensitivity for the HJD4250 to detect a short circuit, an overload, or any circuit malfunctioning. However, the settings should not be above the rated values for the HJD4250 circuit breaker. The HJD4250 has a fully rated neutral pole with no protection and the neutral is located in the right pole. The Cutler Hammer HJD4250 has its adjusting mechanism located on the lower part of the circuit breaker below the tripping arm. The circuit breaker has a high interrupting capacity of 65 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at 480 Volts AC, 100 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at 240 Volts AC, and 25 Kilo Amperes Interrupt Capacity at 600 Volts AC. Being a J-framed circuit breaker, the HJD4250 has line and load terminals which may be shipped separately for field installation.
