The 3-pole Eaton HJD3150 is a circuit breaker with 150 Amps of current rating. It is an HJD type J frame breaker. The AC voltage specification of the HJD3150 is 600 Volts AC. The DC voltage specification of the HJD3150 is 250 Volts DC. The interrupt specifications of the HJD3150 are 100 and 65 kAIC at 240 and 480 Volts AC, respectively. Line and load terminals made of aluminum are provided with HJD3150. Either aluminum or copper wire with 25 to 185 square millimeters of cross sectional area should be used. Overheating the terminals on the circuit breaker can result in damage to the breaker and to random breaker tripping. To prevent this from occurring, a joint compound should be utilized when aluminum wires are used. The recommended torque value is 275 pounds on an inch. The trip module is an interchangeable thermal magnetic module. When a thermal trip occurs, the breaker cannot be reset until the thermal element has cooled sufficiently.
The nameplate data of the HJD3150 should be compared to the system requirements prior to installation. The internal accessories should be installed prior to installing the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker should also be checked for damage before mounting. Installation should only be performed by experienced staff. During installation, the HJD3150 should be powered off. The HJD3150 is a complete breaker with a molded case. It weighs 12.5 pounds and measures 4.13 x 4.13 x 4.06 inches. When the thread forming screws are removed and then reinstalled, they will try to reform the threads in the base. Therefore, care should be taken each time a thread forming screw is used to ensure that the screw moves in the original threads.
