The GD3070 from Eaton Corporation is a complete GD type Series C circuit breaker. The three-pole GD3070 uses fixed thermal and fixed magnetic tripping technology. The trip unit is noninterchangeable. It is rated for 70 Amps, 480 Volts AC and 125/250 Volts DC. At 240 Volts AC, it carries a rating of 65 kilo-Amps interrupt capacity and at 480 Volts AC it carries a rating of 14 kilo-Amps interrupt capacity. The circuit breaker supports 50 and 60 Hertz frequencies. It is UL certified. Accessories available for use with the GD3070 include an auxiliary switch, shunt trip, log dog, lockout switch, under-voltage release mechanism, and pad-lockable handle. The GD3070 needs to be inspected prior to installation. After inspection, it can be mounted and the termination can be carried out.
To ensure the safety of personnel carrying out the installation, it is essential that the circuit breaker is in the off state and no voltages are present. The above-mentioned precaution is even more important for reverse-feed applications. Maintenance on the GD3070 should only be performed in the absence of voltages. Periodic maintenance is recommended and it includes inspection and field testing. Inspection involves removing moisture, dust, and grease, ensuring that the mechanical linkages are free, checking for cracks and discoloration, and checking connectors and terminals for symptoms of overheating or looseness. Field testing should be performed in accordance with the NEMA standards. The GD3070 is a G-frame device. It is sealed at the factory and as per the UL standard, the internal accessories need to be factory-installed. The GD3070 measures 3.5 x 3.5 x 5.12 inches and it weighs 2 pounds.
