The Eaton GD3040D is a 3-pole, 40 Amps rated Series C circuit breaker. The GD3040D is a G-frame, GD type of breaker. The weight of the GD3040D is 0.952 kilograms. The dimensions of the molded case circuit breaker enclosure are 161.7 x 91.9 x 91.9 millimeters. The voltage rating of the GD3040D is 480 Volts AC and 125 or 250 Volts DC. The supported frequencies are 50 and 60 Hertz. It is provided with a built-in fixed trip device which is of the thermal–magnetic type. The GD3040D is rated at 14 kiloamps of interrupting capacity at 480 Volts AC and rat at 65 kiloamps of interrupting capacity at 240 Volts AC. The UL standard for the GD3040D requires the installation of internal accessories at the factory.
However, if the UL listing is not required and local codes permit it, then the installation of internal accessories can be done in the field. Auxiliary switches, shunt trips, lock dogs, and alarm/lockout switches are some of the accessories available for the GD3040D. To minimize the risk of serious injury, death, and property damage, it is highly recommended to install the GD3040D when the equipment is de-energized. Local health and safety procedures must also be adhered to for the safety of the personnel and equipment. The installation of the GD3040D comprises breaker inspection and mounting. Inspection is recommended to check for any damage. Mounting can be done in either of the 3 following methods: with a mounting plate, with a DIN rail, or with hardware. After mounting, the GD3040D is connected and the terminals are torqued.
