The GD3020 from Eaton Corporation is a GD type of circuit breaker. It belongs to Series C of the Eaton circuit breaker. A fixed magnetic thermal trip module is provided with the GD3020 which is a 3-pole breaker. The current rating is 20 Amps for the GD3020, whereas its AC voltage rating is 480 Volts and its DC voltage rating is 125 to 250 Volts. It has 14 and 65 kiloamps of interrupting capacity as its breaker interrupt ratings at 480 and 240 Volts AC, respectively. Because very high voltage and currents pass through the GD3020, it should be installed by trained technicians. The following precautions should also be followed while installing the breaker: the breaker should be powered off, other electrical devices and equipment connected to it or near it should be powered off, and voltage should not be present anywhere in the work area. General safety precautions and all local safety regulations should also be adhered to.
The field testing of the circuit breaker should be performed according to the NEMA standards (publication AB4). Several accessories are available for the GD3020. These include the lock dog, shunt trip, and the under-voltage release mechanism. As per the UL standard, all accessories should be installed at the factory. The GD3020 is available as a G frame circuit breaker. The weight of the breaker is 0.91 kilograms. The dimensions of the GD3020 are a height of 6.6 inches, and a width and depth of 3.8 inches. Steel terminals are provided on the GD3020. The cable type that is recommended for the termination on the terminals is copper or aluminum with #14 to 10 AWG. The recommended terminal torque values are 20 pounds on an inch.
