The HFD2100K is a high-performance molded case switch manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. It is part of the Series C family of molded case circuit breakers and it comes with 2 poles. This F Frame module also has 100 trip Amps and a 65 kAIC interrupting capacity at 277 Volts AC. It is available as a complete component with fixed trip units and it has only load side lug terminals. This Eaton molded case switch is commonly utilized in panelboards, busways, switchboards, and in motor control center applications to provide reliable branch circuit protection. It is available for low-voltage distribution systems up to 600 Volts AC (or 250 Volts DC) with currents rated at 2500 Amps maximum. Featuring non-interchangeable trip units, the HFD2100K is convenient for reverse feed use. However, there is not an overcurrent protection feature available on this module.
The HFD2100K’s self-protection is guaranteed for short-circuit currents of up to 100 Kilo-Amps at 480 Volts AC by integrated short-circuit releases. The switch works perfectly when it is utilized as the main switch for the users’ machines. The installation procedure of this molded case switch entails inspecting the module, and installing the trip unit, rating plug, terminals, and accessories before mounting the circuit breaker and torquing terminals. If necessary, internal accessory installation can be done prior to the circuit breaker’s mounting and connection. Ensure that the switch is properly installed by comparing the nameplate data with the manufacturer’s existing equipment ratings as well as with the system requirements. Check the HFD2100K for completeness and damage before mounting. In addition, the module is outfitted with a unique cover interlock feature, which makes the breaker trip when the cover is removed. When this happens, the users can reset or operate the switch until they replace the cover and screw it down securely. When installing the HFD2100K at 80% of the full rating, it is advisable to use painted or coated buswork.
