The Cutler-Hammer FDB4150 is a complete molded case circuit breaker. The FDB4150 uses bolt-on connections to mount the circuit breaker on a panelboard. The circuit breaker is a Type FDB Series C breaker, and it has an F Frame size. The FDB4150, as with other Series C molded case circuit breakers, it conforms to the Australian standards, International Electrotechnical Commission, and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, among other international standards. Additionally, the FDB4150, together with other Series C circuit breakers, equals to or exceeds the Federal Specifications Classification W-C-375b requirements. The Cutler-Hammer FDB4150 as with other FDB circuit breakers has an interrupt capacity of 14 kAIC at 480 Volts AC. The amperage rating for the circuit breaker stands at 150 Amps. With 4 poles, the circuit breaker also contains a neutral pole.
When protecting a DC-powered circuit, the FDB4150 has a time constant rating of 3 milliseconds at a minimum at 10,000 Amps. The circuit breaker employs a non-interchangeable trip unit which uses a thermal magnetic mechanism to arrest short circuits and overloads in a circuit. The FDB4150 is factory-sealed, prohibiting field installation of internal components. The Cutler-Hammer FDB4150 features terminals on the load side terminals only. The terminals provide wire-connecting capabilities for specific wire types. Terminals on the FDB4150 accommodate copper (Cu) or aluminum (Al) wire types. The FDB4150, as with other FD type circuit breakers, can accommodate a low energy shunt trip and a standard shunt trip on the left pole and interphase barriers. Additionally, where 2 breakers are used, the FDB4150 accommodates the sliding bar interlock.
