The FDB4040 is an F frame complete circuit breaker from Cutler-Hammer. The circuit breaker contains terminals only on the load side. At a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, the FDB4040 has a continuous current rating (maximum) of 40 Amps. The circuit breaker has a non-interchangeable trip unit and it is factory assembled and sealed. The FDB4040 has 4 poles and a capacity rating of 14 kAIC at 600 Volts AC. Note that the maximum rated voltage for the FDB4040 is 600 Volts AC or 250 Volts DC. The Cutler-Hammer FDB4040 employs a thermal-magnetic mechanism to sense over-currents, short-circuits, and other circuit malfunctions that are bound to damage the circuit or the devices interfaced with the protected circuit. The FDB4040 is a Series C circuit breaker from Cutler-Hammer with a molded case.
The FDB4040 contains a neutral pole located on the farthest right side. The FDB4040, as with other Cutler-Hammer molded case circuit breakers, accommodates external accessories like interphase barriers, rear-fed terminals, terminal end covers, plug-in adapters, panelboard connecting straps, base mounting hardware, multi-wire connectors, and control wire terminal kits, among others. The Cutler-Hammer FDB4040 is also available with special calibration, moisture and fungus treatment (for the case only), and it can be used in naval or marine applications. Upon request, the circuit breaker can be supplied with freeze test results. The FDB4040 is not supplied with a display to show the cause of the trip, whether locally or remotely. However, these features can be interfaced with the FDB4040 through the left pole.
