The Eaton FDB3040 is a complete Series C circuit breaker in the molded case category. The 3-pole FDB3040 is rated for 600 Volts AC and 250 Volts DC. Its current rating is 40 Amps. The frequency rating for the FDB3040 is 50 to 60 Hertz. The interrupt ratings are 18 kAIC at 240 Volts AC and 14 kAIC at 480 and 600 Volts AC. The FDB3040 supports fixed thermal and fixed magnetic tripping. The trip unit is the Digitrip RMS 310+ which supports RMS sensing. The breaker includes load-side terminals. Ordering options for the FDB3040 include LS, LSG, LSI, and LSIG. The FDB3040 is HACR-rated and it is suitable for high-intensity discharge use. It can also be used for reverse feed applications.
Excessive temperature tripping is supported. The FDB3040 supports an instantaneous override. Since extremely high voltages and currents are present in electrical systems, the FDB3040 should only be installed or serviced when it is not energized. Failure to follow this recommendation can result in serious injury or even death. For reverse feed applications, special attention is required to ensure that voltages are not present when the FDB3040 is being serviced. Solvents and cleaning agents used to service the circuit breaker should be those that are suitable for this purpose (some commercial solvents are known to cause damage to circuit breaker components). The FDB3040 is an F-frame device and it measures 4.13 x 6.0 x 3.38 inches and it weighs 4.5 pounds. It is recommended to use only AL7CU concentric wire with the circuit breaker.
