The Eaton Cutler-Hammer FD2070 Molded Case Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breaker is a 2-pole designed thermal-magnetic circuit breaker in the family of Eaton Cutler-Hammers Series C, Frame F, a family of circuit breakers with non-interchangeable trip units. This circuit breaker consists of a general purpose thermal-magnetic trip element that provides trip action in the event of any prolonged overload or short-circuits current and it also has a quick-make/quick-break operating mechanism which provides a means of opening and closing the contacts. The FD2070 has a continuous current rating of 70 Amps (at 40 degree Celsius), with 35 Kilo Amps Interrupting Capacity (kAIC) at 480 Volt AC, and it is suitable for application with a maximum voltage rating of 600 Volts AC and 250 Volts DC. This circuit breaker is designed with UL listed load end only terminals for easy wiring, and it has 2-pole wiring system designed for use with single phase system.
Similarly to other Frame F thermal magnetic circuit breakers, this circuit is designed with a non-interchangeable trip unit, which is closed to any manual adjustment, thereby eliminating human error. The FD2070 provide thermal trip action using a bimetal material whose temperature is increased by the load current, and on sustained and heavy overloads, this bimetal will deflect causing a trip action on the operating mechanism. It also provides a magnetic trip via electromagnet connected in series with the load current, which provides instantaneous (fast acting) trip, when the current load reaches the designated trip value. The FD2070 has a surrounding operating temperature range of 0 to 40 degree Celsius, within a relative humidity range of 0 to 95%, and it can be installed at a maximum altitude of 6000 feet without derating.
