The FD2050 is a molded-circuit breaker that belongs to the Frame D line of Series C circuit breakers and these are manufactured and designed by Cutler-Hammer. The Cutler-Hammer FD2050 molded-circuit breaker has a high-interrupting capacity and it has one of the best contact designs when it comes to circuit breakers. The Cutler-Hammer FD2050 molded-circuit breaker is also a thermal-magnetic circuit breaker. It operates with a maximum ampere rating of 50 Amps at 40 degrees Celsius. It operates with 600 Volts AC maximum and 250 Volts DC. This circuit breaker features 2 poles. The number of poles is determined by the type of distribution system. Two-pole breakers like this one are used on single-phase systems.
Each circuit breaker uses a specific mechanism (toggle-type), which impedes the contacts from being held closed against short circuit currents. This action is fast and has been designed to provide and enhance security. When it comes to installation and cabling, the Cutler-Hammer FD2050 molded-circuit breaker requires larger cross sections to avoid exceeding component temperature limits.
