The FD1090 is a single-pole Series C Type FD Cutler Hammer Thermal-Magnetic Circuit Breaker manufactured by Eaton. It is rated for 277 Volts AC, at 50 to 60 Hertz or 125 Volts DC, 90 trip Amps, and 35 kAIC of interrupting rating at 277 Volts AC. This circuit breaker is suitable for high-intensity discharge (HID) use and it is also suitable for providing short circuit and overload protection for a wide array of equipment that matches its rating. Apart from the switch, which plays the additional role of indicating whether this breaker is on or off, the FD1090 circuit breaker also features tiny windows with color strips that indicate its on, off, or tripped positions with the colors green, red, and white, respectively. In addition to the preconfigured trip unit, the breaker features a push-to-trip button for testing or manually tripping the breaker. This breaker is compatible for use with the most common circuit breaker accessories.
The FD1090 circuit breaker supports individual panel mounting, panel board mounting, and deadfront application. It can be installed with copper or aluminum conductors depending on the user’s preferences or the machine requirement. The use of a suitable joint compound is recommended when the FD1090 circuit breaker is installed with aluminum conductors in order to reduce the possibility of overheating, which might result in nuisance tripping and damage. Lint-free dry clothing (without solvents) is recommended for cleaning the FD1090 circuit breaker because certain cleaning agents and solvents may damage its molded case and nameplate. In addition, inspecting the FD1090 thermal-magnetic circuit breaker regularly helps ensure that it functions at optimum capacity all the time.
