The FD1035 is an NEC Corporation micro-floppy-based disk drive that comes with 135 tracks per inch (abbreviated as TPI). This double-sided micro-floppy drive is confined in a hard jacket featuring an auto shutter. The FDl035 module’s total volume is a quarter of a conventional 5 to 1/4" mini floppy disk drive. Weighing about 680 grams, this module is considered super light and extremely portable—especially if users are moving from one industrial setting to another. The FD1035 floppy disk uses a direct-driven type of spindle featuring a brushless DC motor. Also, the disk drive has been engineered to consume less power (i.e. only 4.5 Watts). Additionally, this component features a low noise design that ensures users silent operation. The FD1035 drive comes with unformatted capacities of 1 Megabyte and 0.5 Megabytes for MFM and FM, respectively. The formatted capacity of this genuine disk drive is 640 Megabytes for MFM and 320 Megabytes for FM.
The drive has a transfer rate of 250 k-bi1 per second for MFM and 124 k-bi1 per second for FM. Other important specs of the FD1035 include a maximum bit density of 8717 BPI (for MFM) and 4359 BPI (for FM). The average rotational speed of this micro-floppy drive is 300 revolutions per minute (rpm) while its power dissipation is 4.0 Watts. With a drive life of 5 years, users can leverage on the advantages of this module to execute complex industrial operations with confidence. When operating the FD1035, ensure that the surrounding temperature is between 4 and 46 degrees Celsius. Moreover, the unit’s non-operation storage temperature range is -20 to 50 degrees Celsius. The allowable vibration level of this drive is 100 Hertz. For extra surface protection, the disk is shielded by a hard jacket featuring liner sheets. Also, the disk is equipped with a polyethylene terephthalate base coating featuring magnetic layers. Other protection features of the FD1035 include an unwoven coating, ABS resin, and a metal hub.
