The Westinghouse/Cutler-Hammer EDS2200 is a 2 pole type ED circuit breaker. The breaker only has factory installed load side terminals. Being an Eaton Series C circuit breaker, the EDS2200 can accommodate multiwire connectors which are field installed on the load side terminals. The connectors aid in sharing the load from the circuit breaker to other devices without the need of additional distribution terminal blocks. Multiwire lug kits have insulators, mounting hardware, and tin-plated aluminum connectors. The EDS2200 is designed to be used in protecting single-phase powered circuits. The circuit breaker has a maximum continuous amperage rating of 200 Amps and it is calibrated at 40 degrees Celsius.
The Westinghouse EDS2200 has a non-interchangeable trip type which utilizes a fixed thermal-magnetic trip mechanism that utilizes long-time and instantaneous trip functions. The EDS2200 uses a molded case which is resistant to water and to fungus development. However, the internal components of the breaker are not moisture and fungus-resistant. Therefore, where these qualities are needed, the breaker has to be ordered with special instructions. The EDS2200 has a standard interrupt rating capped at 42 kAIC. For troubleshooting and monitoring, the EDS2200 features a trip arm on its front panel which indicates whether the breaker is actively protecting the circuit (on), whether it has detected a harmful element (tripped), or whether it has completely blocked the power from circulating through the circuit (off). The off and on positions are user induced while the EDS2200 automatically switches to the tripped position each time there is a short circuit.
