The Cutler-Hammer ED3175 is a Series C 3-pole circuit breaker from Eaton Cutler-Hammer. The circuit breaker has an optional shunt trip, undervoltage release, and auxiliary switch. For optimum operation, the ED3175 must be operated with a maximum voltage of 240 Volts AC and 125 Volts DC. The ED3175 operates with a current of 175 Amps and its trip unit uses a fixed magnetic-thermal mechanism. The ED3175 is a type ED circuit breaker, it has a type F-frame, and it supports load terminals only. The ED3175 molded case Eaton circuit breaker has to interrupt ratings of 65000 AIC at 240 Volts AC and 10000 AIC at 125 Volts DC. The circuit breaker is UL and CSA approved. Eaton Cutler-Hammer circuit breakers with the F-frame type are HACR rated and are suitable for reverse feed use.
The ED3175, like other circuit breakers with an F Frame type, has a long delay time protection ranging between 2 and 24 seconds, a short delay pickup of between 200 to 1000%, and a ground fault pickup ranging from 200 to 1000%. Additionally, the ED3175 has a ground fault thermal memory. For testing the ED3175 circuit breaker, a test kit has to be used. Since the ED3175 uses a completely molded case which is installed and sealed at the factory, its trip mechanism is not interchangeable. When installing or removing the ED3175, the active power should be switched off to avoid adverse effects on the breaker and the personnel performing the installation or the maintenance operations. Additionally, the ED3175 should be frequently inspected to ensure the tripping mechanism is working as required.
