The S801V85N3S open soft starter by Eaton Cutler-Hammer is an industrial non-combination type of reduced voltage soft starter that is designed for the smooth starting and stopping of industrial 3-phase motors. The S801 multifunctional soft starters feature compact designs that allow for easy field programming and installation, and they come with built-in protection features like overload protection, run bypass, and multi-trip class settings for additional motor protection.
The S801V85N3S soft starter is a 3-pole soft starter with 850 Amps of maximum current, and an acceptable operating voltage range of 200 to 600 Volts AC (at 47 to 63 Hertz). It has a standard duty output power rating of 100 Horsepower (at 15 seconds ramp time, 4 starts per hour, and 300% current limit at 40 degrees Celsius), and an insulation voltage rating of 660 Volts AC.
The S801V85N3S soft starter has an integral bypass contactor with a 10-minute mechanical lifespan and an overload setting of 30% to 100% of the rated current. It offers several selectable start modes with a ramp time range between 0.5 and 180 seconds, and it provides built-in protection from over-temperature, phase loss, jam, stall, and shorted SCR situations.
