The 2711-B6C8L1 is a legacy product of Allen Bradley for the for the PanelView Standard Operator Terminals. This particular product has been discontinued on 12/31/2012 categorized under Engineering replacement with appropriate alternate part number as 2711P-B7C4D8. This product is a Human Machine Interface which enables real-time process control through operator and process interaction. User input is accomplished through the built-in Touch and keypad interface. These input interfaces enables control flexibility having Two input modes. The stainless-steel domed membrane keypad is expected to last up to 2 million presses. The keypads are composed of 10 Function keys, from F1 to F10, each assignable to different functions and applications, global or local. A function Key legend insert can be used to add a clear and concise reference to the button’s function. The Touchscreen interface has 128 cells with actuation lifespan of 1 million presses. Both interface method allows operator input to the process for control and manipulation of connected devices. This HMI has 5-inch display Colored active TFT Matrix display serves as the visualization area that is paired with a backlight having an expected lifespan of 50,000 hr 1/2 life at 25 °C (77 °F). The 22711-B6C8L1 communicates through the Data Highway Plus (DH+) communication port. Data Highway Plus (DH+) protocol is an Allen-Bradley proprietary protocol that is implemented over a 3 wire as the physical medium. It can cover long distances and communicate with multiple partner devices through block transfers. This protocol is ideal to be implemented in plant floor level. The RS232 port’s configurable transmission speeds are 1200, 2400, 9600, 19,200 Kbps. In can be used to interface print queues to an alarm printer to print alarm list and messages. For RS232, as the distance increases, the selected baud rate must be decreased to successfully send data.
