The D100ERA8 is an expansion chassis manufactured by the Cutler-Hammer brand. This module is from the series “A1” of Cutler-Hammer expansion chassis. The D100ERA8 is a dual purpose part; it can function either as a programmer module or as a controller module. This unit is powered by an input voltage of 240 Volts AC; the D100ERA8 has a digital display screen and has 8 total Inputs/Outputs. It does not have correction labels, as it can provide many possible addresses which appear in an octal number sequence. The D100ERA8 weighs around 0.35 kilograms and is best installed in an environment in which the temperature is controlled. The temperature required to install the D100ERA8 should ideally remain between 0 and 40 degrees Celsius. This is the recommended temperature range for the installation of any D100 expansion unit. Connection cables are used to connect the D100ERA8 with other required parts; users should make sure that the connecting cables are between the lengths of 7.8 inches or 200 millimeters. An optional analog module can be connected between the controller and the D100ERA8 expansion unit. The optional analog module will not affect the I/O count of either the controller or the expansion unit. However, users must ensure that the controller has analog capabilities.
The D100ERA8 is used to provide additional input and output units to the controller to which it is directly connected. It can provide a combination of 8 inputs and 0 output units, 4 inputs and 4 outputs, or 0 input and 8 output units to whichever controller it is applied to. Using the octal number sequence, the D100ERA8 allows internal programmable functions for the controller to which it is connected.
