The D100ER40 is a 40 I/O expansion module from the D100 series of Micro PLCs manufactured by Eaton Cutler-Hammer. The input power supplied side requires 115 Volts of AC power. This D100 expansion chassis is equipped with 40 I/O (24 inputs and 16 outputs). Its inputs are 24 Volt DC rated with an input current at 10mA while its outputs are a relay type for 24 Volts DC or 240 Volts AC (2A contacts at 240 Volts AC, allowable inrush current 6A for 100 milliseconds). This module’s inputs are connected over terminals on the upper side of the device while its outputs are connected at the lower side, and signaling lamps are provided for each input and output. The D100ER40 expansion unit is connected by cable to the controller to provide additional inputs and outputs. This series of D100 modules is characterized as a small-sized PLC platform; oftentimes there is a need to expand I/O capabilities of the PLC used. The D100ER40 offers the biggest number of additional I/Os in the series.
If an analog module is installed in the control system, it must be connected to the PLC before the D100ER40 digital expansion module. Addresses on this expansion chassis continue from addresses from the PLC that it is connected to, or from final address from the preceding expansion module. The addresses are assigned in a form of octal number sequence. This 40 I/O expansion module operating temperature range is 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit). It has 4 mounting holes (5 millimeters). The enclosure dimensions are 12.6 x 4.0 x 4.4 inches (320 x 100 x 112 millimeters). The recommended clearance all around the device is around 4 inches (100 millimeters) and this device can be directly mounted to the panel either horizontally or vertically, while the connecting cable must remain flat.
