The D100ER20 is an expansion module for a D100 controller, made by Cutler Hammer. It allows users to expand the I/O capacity of the controller and provides 12 inputs and 8 outputs to the system. Companies can use one D100ER20 to expand a 20 I/O controller, or two D100ER20 modules to expand a 40 I/O controller. Just like other D100 expansion modules, the D100ER20 comes with a cable that is used to connect the unit to the controller. A maximum of two expansion units can be used with each controller, so long as the total number of inputs and outputs of the system do not exceed the maximum I/O limit permitted for the given controller. There are instances in which the numbers on the nameplates of the D100ER20 do not correspond with the address of the input and output devices of the expanded system; however, the operator can easily correct such errors with the use pressure sensitive labels, which will cover the factory markings. This error usually takes place when the D100ER20 is used with a 40 I/O controller, although another instance in which this can occur is if two expansion modules are used in the system. The width of the D100ER20 is 9.4 inches, its height is 4 inches, and it has a depth of 4.4 inches. Mounting holes are already prefabricated for this module and it also comes with DIN brackets that allow the user to install it in a DIN rail. It is important to mount the D100ER20 and the controller in a protective enclosure that is appropriately rated for the industrial environment in which this module is often applied. The length of this expansion module’s provided cable limits the spacing of the units.
