The D100CPM232 is a connector manufactured by the former Cutler Hammer corporation, known now as Eaton Corporation. This connector is available to convert connections from D100 to RS-232, more specifically from a PLC to a computer. The RS-232 standard connections were firstly used to connect computer terminals to modems. The Cutler-Hammer D100CPM232 protocol module consists basically of an ethernet extension to PLC devices, which may need occasionally to use a modem to send or receive a specific call, signal, among others. There are cases where a PC needs to communicate with a PLC and this can be done through a modem.
The Cutler-Hammer D100CPM232 protocol module has 25-pins and is a female version; it can be connected to a 25 pin RS232 connector. The Cutler-Hammer D100CPM232 protocol module enables PLC devices to be connected to a modem and other devices, and at the same time shares important data about the process or application. It is used whenever there is a processor device that needs to be connected to a modem in order to send data or information as a requirement. The Cutler-Hammer D100CPM232 protocol module is not a standard connector; it was initially designed as a spare part to work exclusively with Cutler Hammer D100 PLC modules that it enables them to have a proper protocol module. The external part of this connector is made of a wiring material that can withstand high temperatures and at the same time, it makes the connector durable.
